Dhime

Dhime (Nepal Bhasa: धिमे) is a double-headed cylindrical drum with a big wooden or metallic body. It a type of struck drum, technically a membranophone. The drum is large, normally about two and half feet in diameter, and placed in front of the thorax or abdomen horizontally or diagonally while playing. It is played often with a small stick, mostly a stick with spiral head, in one hand and by slapping motion of the other hand. The slapping motion generally produces bass effect. It is commonly played by Jyapus, and sometimes by Ranjitkars.
