Dharma Productions

Dharma Productions is a film company founded by Yash Johar in 1976.
The first film to be produced by the company was Dostana (1980) and went on to produce many more action films. In 1998, Mr. Johar's son Karan Johar made his directorial debut with the film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. The film was one of the biggest hits of the year. Karan Johar went on to make many more family dramas including the two blockbusters, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001) and Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003). Breaking away from the romantic family dramas, the company them produced the thriller Kaal in 2005. The latest release was Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, which released on August 11th, 2006. And now finally Dharma Production and NDTV joined hand and making an entertainment TV Channel.
