[edit] Devil Arms

One of the main character's weapons, namely Cerberus, is a flail-like weapon consisting of three bar segments connected to a central ring and is used by Dante in a manner not unlike the Japanese Nunchaku. I believe the Cerberus weapon to be of Chinese origin, modified to fit the icy persona of the Cerberus guardian. Can anybody name the Chinese weapon which Cerberus most closely resembles so that I may replace the tentative title of "flail"? --ThatNateGuy 03:15, 2 May 2005 (UTC)

I always thought that the type of weapon Cerberus was in this game were called "Sunchaku", however, after doing a Google search and only coming up with fewer than 20 hits, all of which were rather vague on what it actually meant, and after not finding a Wikipedia or Dictionary.com entry, I'm not sure on the validity of that statement. Anyone want to validate what exactly "Sunchaku" are? --ChewyLSB 23:18, 15 May 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Sanchaku

The term 'sanchaku' was coined by Capcom, and denotes a nunchaku with three rods.

I'm not sure I'd call it coining so much as an obvious extension. Actually... A 三節棍 (sanchaku) is generally called a three-section staff in English. It consists of three rods linked in sequence, unlike the Cerberus. By the way, where does Capcom call it a sanchaku? I've been looking around a bit, and even the Japanese wiki describes it as "a form of nunchaku consisting of 3 rods joined by chains to a central ring". The thing is, the word "ヌンチャク" has kind of drifted from its roots, and I'm not sure how many native Japanese speakers would think of it in terms of the various applicable kanji compounds, probably because the pronunciation "nunchaku" came from China. -- Rablari Dash 08:37, 4 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition

As stated within the "Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening" article, there will be a "Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition" released. So, interested to see what Wikipedia had documented on the upcoming game, I conducted a search to find a "Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition" article on Wikipedia. To much dismay, I found that there was no article for "Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition". I found this a bit odd, so if there is an article, I would like to be notified. If not, I have quite a few bits of information that I have gathered from the Internet, so i couldhelp make the article by contriduting all that i know. I would make the article myself, but due to my 'noob-ness', if you will, to Wikipedia, I could never make my article as professional or 'link enriched' as others.

There probably wont be an another article. The editors will add a subsection here detailing the changes in the Special edition. We dont make articles for expanded editions. Unless of course the added content is large (Like Metal Gear Solid 3 and Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence). -- Psi edit 20:39, 3 January 2006 (UTC)

The added content is more than large. 1. Whole playable storyline just for virgil

  a. A arsonal just for him
     i. The Yammato
     ii. Beowulf
iii. The Force Edge (Dante's starting sword in Devil May Cry 1 *Sparda's sword*)
iv. The Shadow Blades, makeing their return right from the 3rd version of Nelo Angelo's arsonal
  b. And we shantent pass over "Dark Slayer", Virgil's own personal style

2. Addition of the "Very Hard" difficulty setting 3. The addition and return of the "Bloody Palace" mode, which 1st made it's debute in Devil May Cry 2 4. And the expansion of Jester's role from just a collection of cut-scenes to a da-da-da! a Boss! 5. The new yellow orb system! A very long awaited adition.

  a. due to the lack of access within the my high school's internet access, I cannot draw the official information, but I know that there will be the regular yellow orbs and there will be an excruciatingly more expensive "universal" orb (not the real name, i am just reaching for names) that alters where you start (again, my access is limited, so some searching for accurate and dependable infomation)

There might be a few more additions that i most likely forgotten (short-term memory), but i am not quite sure. Also, the names here of some things might not be correct due to my error. but this information is accessable from the Playstation Underground official website (if you start at the home page, go to the top, click "Games", then scroll down very little and look to the left side for "Message Boards". Scroll down there and you will find a Devil May Cry fourm. Just look in there for the special edition thred in red.)

Ok not to be rude but.

Why dont you add this info yourself to this article. But first please learn some Wiki editing techniques (your message is annoying to read). And after every message on a discussion page sign your message with four ~ . this marks your name. Psi edit 04:08, 13 January 2006 (UTC)

i am deeply sorry. as i look back at the info now, i guess i do have enough to make an article, even if it is a stub. i will take your advice and i will try to learn some editing techniques. p.s. i had no idea about the 4 ~. thanks for telling me. OmniAngel 15:34, 13 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Citation Needed

I,Mr_Smashnbash,was the one to add the information about a possible release of the Special Edition (PS2 version)in Europe. I will quite happily release the email Capcom sent me which will validate my claim.

--Mr Smashnbash 11:44, 7 March 2006 (UTC)

So,here it is. The email I was sent back from capcom;

From : Feedback <Feedback@capcomeuro.com>

Sent : 15 February 2006 14:31:30 Subject : RE: 3 Special Edition

It is possible that the Special Edition might be released in Europe, but there are no firm plans to do it at this time. The reasons for this are confidential.

Best regards, Capcom

Hopefully this is enough, if not then email capcom yourself and you can wait two months(possibly more) for a reply.

[edit] Edits

Did some grammatical work. Yay English!

[edit] Castlevania 'similarities'

Most similarities are vague at best, and do not originate with SoTN (Cerberus, half humans, white haired protagonists...none of this is fresh). Lament of Innocence was just as similar to dozens of other 3rd person action games, and not DMC in general (which while a good game, did not actually invent the genre, as so many revisionist historians like to make out). I'd say delete it outright, but let's get some more opinions on this. And please, no raging fanboyisms from people firmly entrenched in either camp. ReignInTiki 04:44, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

--Ratchetcomand 13:53, May 20 2006 (UTC)

Shouldn't somebody edit in Rockstar Games as being the publishers of the Xbox 360 version? Vgamer101 20:45, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

Sorry bout that some Gamespot tell me that Rockstar is the publisher of the 360 version . I soun't listen to them again. Good thing i left Gamespot/Gamefaqs .

[edit] Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition on PC

May 23 is the official date, right? I'm just asking since Capcom has, as of late, been pushing back the release date(s) of the PC version of Resident Evil 4 repeatedly, so I didn't know if they have done it with DMC3:DASE as well. Also, somebody should edit in that Ubisoft is going to be publishing the game on the PC. Vgamer101 20:59, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Hellsing?

The Hellsing article states that Alucard could be a possible inspiration for Dante, since both wear red, use custom handguns and have dark powers that they use against evil. Should we also mention that in this article? --Warp L. Obscura 13:43, 10 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Cleanup?

What the hell for? Removed for reasons of insanity. This article is just fiiiiine. --NaOH 06:44, 16 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Relativity

What relevance does the link to Relativity (M.C. Escher) have to the article? If there is, please state it. If not, please remove. --Warp L. Obscura 13:53, 19 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] DMC 3:SE release in Europe on PS2

The GAME website has Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition listed for a pre-order on September 29th of this year.See link-http://www.game.co.uk/search.aspx

I believe this should be added to the list of release dates on the main article page.--5starsuplex 16:43, 23 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Deleted Pages

Why are some pages about Devil May Cry series missing and the url redirecting to the games´ pages even when there are no in-deep information? Like Jester´s one? Is there a group rebuilding articles for Devil May Cry category? Thanks. Cris Spiegel 22:42, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
