[edit] Production
[edit] Production status
Currently, the script is being worked upon and there is no telling when the filming will begin. In early 2006, actor Chris Casamassa revealed that hurricane Katrina set the production back a few months. [citation needed]
[edit] Plot
Actor Christopher Lambert claims that, while the script has already been written, it will be scrapped and recreated upon the release of the latest Mortal Kombat game, Mortal Kombat: Armageddon.[1] Another rumor claims that Devastation will bypass Annihilation completely, citing the second film's poor performance and reception. [2] On May 2006, fansite MortalKombatOnline.com revealed that Robin Shou, who starred as Liu Kang in the first two films, supposedly contacted them to state that the most recent script was a prequel focusing on Sub-Zero as the protagonist, with none of the cast from the earlier films returning[2]. However, this information was later debunked as a hoax, originating from the same source on several different websites and blogs.[citation needed]
[edit] Cast
Christopher Lambert, who portrayed Raiden in the first film, will reprise his role in this movie[1]
The film's cast has yet to be confirmed by any official source.
IMDb has revealed a few cast members, and what characters they play.
Chris Casamassa as Scorpion (attached), Keith Cooke as Sub-Zero, Matthias Hues as Fujin, and Adoni Maropis as Quan Chi. Some sites that Linden Ashby, who played Johnny Cage in the first film may also be returning.
[edit] Crew
Currently, one director is rumored to be tied to the third Mortal Kombat film: mink. Drew McWeeny and Scott Swan are said to be developing the screenplay with Larry Kasanoff producing.[2] Like the cast, no crew member has been officially confirmed.
