IMDb profile

Devil in a Blue Dress is a 1995 neo-noir film directed by Carl Franklin. The cinematography was done by Tak Fujimoto. The film was based on the novel of the same name written by Walter Mosley.

In this noir Easy Rawlins (Denzel Washington) is an unemployed factory worker who becomes a private eye. He's hired to track down a missing woman, Daphne Monet (Jennifer Beals), the fiancée of politician Todd Carter. He finds himself in the middle of a dastardly conspiracy.

Easy's goal is to uncover why Monet is so important to so many people and, in the process, keep himself out of jail. Not an easy task for an African-American living in post World War II, Los Angeles.
