Devil Bird

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The devil bird, locally known as ulama, is a cryptid of Sri Lanka said to emit bloodcurdling shrieks. It is said the cry of this bird is the forbearer of the news of death. Its identity is unresolved; it might be an owl or the Ceylon Highland Nightjar (Caprimulgus indicus kelaarti); the males of the latter are known to have a screaming flight-call untypical for nightjars.
