Detroit Demolition

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Detroit Demolition are a women's semi-professional American football team based in the Detroit area. They joined the National Women's Football Association (NWFA) in 2002 as the Detroit Danger, winning a league championship. Their only loss that year was in the regular season to the Cleveland Fusion by a score of 14-3.

After an ownership change, and a name change to the Detroit Demolition, the team won three more league titles, going undefeated in each of those three seasons. The Demolition sought membership into the Independent Women's Football League (IWFL) in 2006. It was subsequently accepted in the league. The Demolition is the second IWFL team in Detroit, the other being the Detroit Predators. The Demolition played at Detroit Redford High School and Livonia Churchill High in 2006. Detroit was upset in the 2006 IWFL Championship Game by the Atlanta Xplosion by a score of 21-14. It was only the Demolition's second loss in the franchise's five-year history.

Also in 2005, the team played a special Mother's Day game at Ford Field, home of the Detroit Lions.
