I saw your article on Gong Bao Tian when looking at the stub articles, and it looks good. However, it would be great if you can also find a birth and death year etc. for him, and/or clarify which form of martial arts he practiced (for the category, I don't know much about the subject, and there are subcategories for Category:Chinese martial artists which he could be further categorized to). - Bobet 01:19, 4 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Hello
Hey there, I saw your note on Talk:Russian martial arts and thought I'd drop by to say hello. You saw Go Warrior? I thought that it was pretty showy but still interesting. The other episodes of the show are the same.. fast and loose.. entertaining all around. -- Sy / (talk) 22:42, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Shaolin
Here are the pinyin transliterations for the following:
- Hernan Province - "Henan Province"
- Shao Hong - If this refers to the "small hong fist" routine, then this should be "xiaohong".
- Tong Chi Gong - If this refers to Shaolin child training, then this should be "tongzigong".
- Dharma
- Jao Ma – No idea what the first character is supposed to be.
- Yao Sher – Don't know.
- (Dan) Dao - This conforms to pinyin. "Dan" means single, so "dan dao" refers to the use of a single sabre, as opposed to "shuang dao," double sabres.
- Guan/Quan Dao – Pinyin is "guandao".
- Arhat – Pinyin Chinese is "luohan".
- Long – Does this refer to the Chinese dragon? If so, then "long" is already the correct pinyin.
- Wu Chi Shi – Pinyin is "wu qin xi".
- Wu Sin Chuan – Pinyin is "wu xing quan".
- Gao Sin Chuan - "Gou xing quan" is the pinyin for the words you use here, but I've only ever seen "gou quan" used.
- Yin Jao Gung - Eagle claw is "ying zhao" in pinyin. "Ying zhao gong" would translate as "eagle claw skill," but I've never seen this usage. "Ying zhao pai" is generally used to refer to eagle claw style.
- Hu sin Chuan - In pinyin, "hu xing quan". "Hu quan" is the more common term.
- Hao Sin Chuan - In pinyin, "hou xing quan". "Hou quan" is the more common term.
- Teng Man Chuan – I have no idea where this came from. "Mantis fist" should be "tanglang quan".
- Dan Tien – dantian
- Ber Shi Cha – Don't know.
- Chan(g) Chin Gur - No idea what this refers to.

While I understand the reason for burying certain pages, this is not the place. There are plenty of sites that will allow you to keep private journals (and actually have them private rather than viewable by the entire world). Please see Wikipedia:User_page and What Wikipedia Is Not. If someone else were to request the deletion of one of your subpages, it would have to be publicly discussed. If you make the request, however, the deletion will be uncontested. You can easily get any of your user subpages deleted by adding {{db-owner}} to the page. Thank you. [edit] Wikidiaries
Thank you for your compliment of my userpage. I have to admit, though, that I just stole concepts from other user pages and pieced together what I wanted. If you "edit this page" on my userpage, you'll see a comment at the top that credits the others. As for your Wikidiaries -- I like the idea. It allows you to neatly organize information you want accessible without cluttering your watchlist or user page. I actually came across them while patrolling Anon RC, when an anon made an edit to the subpage I mentioned above (which I see you've had deleted). That, and your own contributions showed all of your subpages. That's how I usually run across most things -- not by the normal "link" route, but by lists of contributions. You see more of the larger picture that way. Happy editing! SWAdair 04:10, 4 August 2006 (UTC) Fiziks 15:52, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Updates
Hi sorry about the delay in answering your query. As you pointed out the article is incomplete in its historical section and an edit that would remedy this would defiantly be appreciated. That said some people are sensitive to changes in articles, and while I doubt that any upgrade you perform on the article would lead to an editwar it may be best to post the proposed updates in the Discussion section of the article as a precaution. Thanks Freepsbane 00:20, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Shaolin styles
My position is that, beyond the material in the Exposition of the Original Shaolin Staff Method and the Boxing Classic, what is or is not "Shaolin" cannot be authenticated.
There are some versions of oral history that I believe have more credibility than others, but they do not meet Wikipedia standards for reliable sources.
If you have any questions about language, I'll be glad to help you out, but on content, there is little if no peer-reviewed material out there that corroborates claims that many styles are Shaolin.
JFD 04:16, 8 October 2006 (UTC)
That information ought to be easy enough to find. Just keep in mind that a lot of styles that consider themselves Shaolin or are widely considered Shaolin (mostly Southern stuff like Hung Gar, Choy Lee Fut and Wing Chun) aren't currently taught at the Shaolin Monastery.
