Despotiko

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Despotiko is a Greek island in the Cyclades.

The small island is located less than one mile from the shores of Antiparos. It is uninhabited, although there are significant indications that in ancient times it was considered one main hub of the Cyclades complex. Currently, excavations are taking place on the island and so far the findings are of great importance. Some of the artifacts found on the recent excavations are exhibited in Paroikia's museum, located on the nearby island of Paros, along with other important antiquities from the region.

In our days, the island can be reached only by boats starting from the island of Antiparos. Usually, the final destination for them, lies on the eastern part of the island, where a sandy beach is located.
