Designer Whey Protein
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Designer Whey Protein is a brand of whey protein supplement aimed at bodybuilders, athletes, and fitness enthusiasts. Armed with the slogan "America's best selling protein since 1993!", it has been a popular product and was one of the first brands of whey protein on the market. Originally called Designer Protein, Designer Whey Protein was created by 3-time Olympian David Jenkins, and introduced to the market by Carlsbad, California company NEXT Proteins International (then called NEXT Nutrition) in 1993. Designer Whey Protein is a blend of whey proteins in various forms. NEXT Proteins claim that Designer Whey is different from basic 100% whey protein and whey protein concentrate in that it contains partially predigested whey protein high in whey peptides.

[edit] Effectiveness
Whey protein is high in Branched chain amino acids (Leucine, Isoleucine and Valine) which are considered especially important in muscle growth and development. Next Proteins has funded several unpublished studies into the effectiveness of their product and has stated that it has been found to "improve protein synthesis 117%".[1] This form of protein is purported by the company to be more easily digested and biologically utilizable than other forms of whey proteins.
[edit] Usage
Designer Whey Protein comes in many forms. It is made in a powder form which is meant to be mixed with milk or juice to form a shake or taken plain with water. It also comes mixed into various nutrition bars.
