Des Clarke (Scottish presenter)

Des Clarke is a Scottish TV Presenter and Stand-Up Comedian from Glasgow, Scotland. He started performing comedy when he was 19 and was a regular on the Glasgow comedy circuit. After winning various awards for his stand-up performances including Channel 4's So You Think You're Funny, BBC's New Comedy and The Daily Telegraph Open Mic Award, Des made the move to Radio and TV presenting.

Des Clarke was one of the last presenter's on ITV's long running childrens television show SMTV Live after Ant and Dec left the show to pursue other avenues. He presented the show for eleven months as well as hosting SMTV's sister show CD:UK with Cat Deely.

When SMTV ended, Des went on to appear in BBC1's Live Floor Show as well as hosting Whatever on Sky One and Discovery's Invention SOS. He also fronts the Scottish coverage for BBC1's Children In Need - a telethon which raises millions of pounds for children across the UK.

Des can currently be seen onscreen presenting Club Cupid the adult dating show on Scottish Television. He is also making his mark as a sports broadcaster appearing regularly on BBC1 Scotland’s flagship football programmes, Offside and Sportscene.

Des was a DJ on Scottish radio station Beat 106 (now known as XFM Scotland) for three years. He fronted the Breakfast Show and won the Presenter of the Year at the British Radio Awards in 2004.

After leaving Beat 106, Des has since gone on to work with BBC Radio in a number of sitcoms, sketch shows and as a guest panellist.

Des is a regular on the Scottish Comedy circuit and has played venues such as The Stand and Jongleurs. He also performs all over the country and can be regularly seen in Manchester and London, including the Comedy Store.

He has performed sell-out comedy shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2003-2005 and at the Glasgow International Comedy Festival in 2004-2006 as well as playing all over the world, with appearances at the New York, Adelaide, Dubai and Dublin Comedy Festivals.
