Derek Brownlee
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Derek Brownlee is the Finance and Public Service Reform spokesman of the Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party, and a member of the party's Shadow Cabinet. He has been a Member of the Scottish Parliament for the South of Scotland Region since 2005. He was elected after David Mundell resigned his seat at Holyrood following his election as MP for Dumfriesshire, Clydesdale and Tweeddale constituency in the 2005 General Election. Brownlee was next on the Conservative's list for the South of Scotland region.
Brownlee had previously fought the Tweeddale, Ettrick and Lauderdale constituency at the 2003 Scottish parliament election, finishing fourth. After Annabel Goldie became leader of the Scottish Conservatives, he was appointed their finance spokesman.
Brownlee will contest the Tweeddale, Ettrick and Lauderdale seat in the Holyrood elections of 2007. This is the same seat that he had contested in the election of 2003. The incumbent MSP is Jeremy Purvis, a Scottish Liberal Democrat MSP.
