[edit] Redwolf24

Hello, I would like to say thank you for casting a vote at my RfA. Regardless of the fact you didn't support, I would like to thank you for taking time. With respect, Redwolf24 04:44, 16 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] thank you for your opinion on my RfA

Hello, just a quick note to say thank you for voting, even though you were not convinced of my experience. "From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked." (Luke 12:48, NIV) Never was a truer word spoken. I feel empowered, yes, but not in the "oooh cool delete button!" way I was kind of expecting. Already I feel the weight of the responsibility I have now been entrusted with, a weight that will no doubt reduce given time. Perhaps I am ready for it, or perhaps, as you say, I am not. I hope that in the coming weeks and months I can prove you wrong, but no matter what I thank you for giving your honest opinion, it is really important to me. Thank you. :) GarrettTalk 10:56, 22 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Wikimood succession table

Hi Denelson83. Since you are the creator of the Wikimood, I thought I should let you know that I put succession tables on each of the image pages from -10 to +10. I figured it would be easy to navigate through all of the moods rather than having to manually type them out. Cheers! --Deathphoenix 05:28, 23 July 2005 (UTC)

Thanks! I think it's time to change my mood again. I'm in the Wikimood for... Insane. --Deathphoenix 05:32, 23 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] My two cents

Good day. Throughout the last few days, I have been examining your edit history and been contemplating how to vote on your RfA. I have been struggling with how to vote. Since it appears that your vote will fail, I do not feel that voting will be of much value. Throughout this process, it does appear that you are looking for feedback on your behaviour. So, I figured I should still give you my comments. Take it for what it's worth, it is just my opinion.

I think your edits and contributions to Wikipedia are impressive. You have improved a number of articles significantly. It is clear to me that you have put a lot of effort into helping build a great encyclopedia. In all messages on article talk pages and other user talk pages that I examined, you seem to carry yourself with great civility. These two attributes are what I value strongly when I vote on an RfA.

I personally don't have much of a problem with your 9-month criteria for adminship. I'm not saying that I agree with it, it is just that I wouldn't use this as a reason to vote against you. Many voters have a line for time here before they support adminship. This is clear from looking at people's standards for adminship. Somebody will have to have the highest bar, and will take some heat for having that position. Given that many people have a 6-month criteria, nine months isn't too far off.

Then there is the blanking of messages on your talk page and preference not to have a user page. I like your recent approach to this (having a simple user page & creating a personal policy not to edit your talk page). If this behaviour continues and at least a couple months pass before your next RfA, I will probably support you. Without a history of civil interaction with all types of comments left for you, I have difficulty supporting your adminship.

I do suggest you think strongly about whether you do accept another admin nomination. If your mood decreases significantly from negative comments, why torture yourself with adminship? This paints a target on your back. The admin powers make it easier for you to revert changes, delete articles, and block users. All of these actions could prompt a vandal to include you in their attacks.

Anyway, I just figured I would throw in my two cents. I do hope you take them in the manner in which they are offered, as constructive criticism. -- JamesTeterenko 21:04, 24 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] still on my list

Hi - A little while ago I made a list of users who've made lots of edits but aren't admins and thought I'd left a message on the talk page of every user who's on it (but looking through your talk page history, don't see one on yours - hmmm, don't have any idea how this might have happened). I understand your recent rfa failed (bummer!), and I don't know if I'm going to keep my list updated, or if anyone will ever look at it, but I thought I'd let you know I've left the '*' by your name on the assumption you're still interested. If not, please feel free to remove it. -- Rick Block (talk) 14:26, July 25, 2005 (UTC)

Hey, how do people (such as yourself) get such fancy names. You have a red box about yours, some have rainbow letters User:Merovingian, images... I'm just really curious DevastatorIIC 02:22, July 26, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] "cluck click"

Hi Denelson,

You've added an audiofile for [ǃ¡]. Do you have a good description of how it's articulated? It sounds like a simple click, but the symbol and description suggest that it should be a click sequence. I'm wondering if it might be the "flapped" allophone of the alveolar click found in Hadza and Sandawe. If so, I'd like to link this together.

Thanks, kwami 02:56, 2005 August 2 (UTC)

Yes, that's basically the East African allophone. I guess my question is, what is your source for transcribing this sound as <ǃ¡>? I can't find any description as to whether this is a click followed by a slap of the floor of the mouth (as you make), and alveolar click followed by a sublaminal click (as the transcription would suggest), or two simultaneous click releases. I don't want to associate the sound file with the symbol, or use it in describing Hadza, unless I can confirm this somewhere. kwami 08:16, 2005 August 2 (UTC)
That's the same info we have here in Wikipedia: an alveolar and sublaminal click. That doesn't specify whether they're a sequence or simultaneous, but in any case what you're making isn't a double click: the sublaminal part is a flap. I'm not convinced that this is the proper symbol, or that we should attach a sound file without knowing for sure. kwami 10:03, 2005 August 2 (UTC)
The [ɾ̞] symbol means that the articulation is less solid than for [ɾ], not that it is pronounced elsewhere in the mouth. There is no symbol for a sublaminal sound. My understanding is that [¡] is a click pronounced between the tongue and the lower alveolar ridge, but I don't know if [ǃ¡] is related as its symbol would suggest. kwami 10:25, 2005 August 2 (UTC)

Hi again, your made an edit with the comment "Pharyngeal trills and taps have not been judged impossible". Do you have a source for this? As best I know, this column is left blank in the published IPA chart because epiglottals were for a long time considered a subcategory of pharyngeal, and epiglottal trills are quite possible. Ladefoged seems to think that velar trills are possible (certainly an ingressive one, which is a type of snore), but that true pharyngeal ones are not. kwami 01:03, 2005 August 5 (UTC)

Hey again - I'm up for RfA. I came here to ask if you'd be willing to support me, but I've never seen so many bleedin' support requests before! I'm surprised you get anything else done. Nevermind! kwami 19:14, 1 October 2005 (UTC)
Thanks! kwami

[edit] why I added the actual location

I just added the location corresponding to the latitude and longitude coordinates on your user page. I use a screen reader to do my work, and it does not read maps. I therefore had great difficulty in finding where the latitude and longitude coordinates were. If I got the location wrong, or you'd rather not have it on your user page, feel free to change it or remove it as needed. Anyone with a severe enough vision impairment that they cannot see the maps might have difficulty finding you if you remove it though. Thanks, Graham 09:46, 13 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Sailor Moon related article on VfD

Hi there. I know you don't usually partake of the delight that is VfD, but I remembered from reading your userpage that you're a fan of Sailor Moon, so I thought I'd let you know that Starseeds (Sailor Moon) has turned up in this VfD. -Splash 01:23, 14 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Good Job on the Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/WikiProject Wikipedians for Decency Vote Bar

Thanks for adding that Bar on the WfD VfD page, it's amazing how something so simple can look so good. Where did you learn your HTML and/or CSS? This VfD has made me begin to wonder if there's a need of some kind of vote counting/reforming project here on Wikipedia, and if so, would you like to start it with me? I've been keeping track of the vote on the talk page, and I assume it came so easily to both of us since we both have Asperger's Syndrome.

Either way, I'm impressed, and I hope things can improve from the issues you had during the Essjay thing. I voted for him on his RfA, but i'll talk to him to see if things are better by now or will be soon. I will vote for and/or nominate you on your next one, with your talents, you definately deserve it, and everybody deserves a second chance. Karmafist 23:53, 20 August 2005 (UTC)
