Denton Urban District was a local government district in Lancashire, England from 1894 to 1974.

It was created as an urban district by the Local Government Act 1894 and consisted on the civil parish of Denton. [1]

The Denton parish was expanded on 31 December 1894 by gaining the former area of Haughton; [2] the urban district covered the whole of the enlarged parish. [3]

There were minor boundary changes in 1933 and 1937 with the Manchester and Stockport county boroughs which did not affect any population.

The district was abolished in 1974, by the Local Government Act 1972, and its former area was transferred to Greater Manchester to form part of the Metropolitan Borough of Tameside.
