Denton, East Sussex
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Denton, East Sussex. A small village, associated with Newhaven. Adjoins South Heighton and Mount Pleasant. Backs onto the South Downs. Local church records suggest it is featured in the Domesday book.
Once a pleasant village, it is, like its neighbour, South Heighton expanding to form suburbs of Newhaven. Increasingly, the area is used for the construction of low-cost or council-owned housing estates, to the irritation of existing inhabitants of the village, who argue such developments are not in keeping with the wealthy history and stature of the villages.
