Deniz Barış (born July 2, 1977 in Kemah/Erzincan, Turkey) is a footballer, who currently plays for the Turkish Premier Super League club Fenerbahçe SK at the defender position. He is 1.84 meters tall and weighs 79 kilograms.
His youth club is F.C. St. Pauli, and he had an important role when F.C. St. Pauli were promoted to 1. Bundesliga in 2001. After his years in F.C. St. Pauli, he had taken the attention of the talent predator Gençlerbirliği chairman İlhan Cavcav and he was transferred to Gençlerbirliği. In Gençlerbirliği's UEFA Cup campaign, he was one of the most influential players of the team. His team defeated outstanding European clubs such as Blackburn Rovers and Sporting Lisbon.
In 2004, Fenerbahçe chairman bought Deniz to his team paying one of the Gençlerbirliği's record transfer fees.
Deniz was the member of Turkish squad in 2003 FIFA Confederations Cup.

Due to a financial problem in his transfer to Fenerbahçe, his licence was suspended and he was unable to play for Kadıköy side for a long time. In July 2006, Deniz lost his childhood love and mother of his two children Frauke Barıs in a tragic house accident in his house in Jork (near St. Pauli). During their match following this event, F.C. St. Pauli players wore black armbands to express their sorrow for the ex-St.Pauli player.[citation needed]
