Denise Nickerson (born April 1, 1959) is a former American child actress. She is probably best known for her roles as the gum-chewing Violet Beauregarde in the 1971 movie Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory and for her well regarded and important recurring role as Amy Jennings, in the highly rated (and still popular via DVD and reruns) gothic soap on ABC-TV's Dark Shadows that she played on from 1968-1970.

Later on, Nickerson was a member of the Short Circus musical troupe in The Electric Company, an educational TV program for children. She also guest starred as a girlfriend of Peter Brady on The Brady Bunch.

Nickerson appeared in other shows and stage productions, before retiring from acting in her early twenties to be married.
