Demonoid is a popular private BitTorrent tracker for the peer to peer distribution of files. The website features a publicly accessible search engine, although membership is required to download more than 3 torrents per week.
For a long time registration was by invitation only with occasional times where everyone could register. On September 25, 2006 Demonoid announced that they are now working in conjunction with Searching.com. This will allow Demonoid to open up registration to all every Friday.
Although Demonoid removed torrents over a year old on August 4, 2006 to free tracker resources, the site has over 96,771 user submitted torrents indexed as of November 2006.
Demonoid is a BitTorrent tracker, however it also indexes external torrents. They only provide information to make a torrent using the uTorrent client.
