Demon FM

Demon FM is the student radio station of De Montfort University in Leicester, England. Set up in the summer of 1995 by the student union's sabbatical officer Rob Martin, the station has gone from humble beginnings in a Portakabin to a studio in DMU's student union building.
Although DMU offers an extensive media course, Demon FM is recognised by staff and students as a great way to discover the world of radio, regardless of volunteers' course choices. Notable alumni from Demon FM include Kerrang Radio's Emma Scrafton, Heart FM's Emma Marston, Mercia FM's Ant McGinley and Mike Newman, Wise Buddah's Chris North, and Chris Skinner, the man behind the podcast Simulacrum. As a recent alumni event demonstrated, many more ex-Demon presenters and production staff have gone on to work in radio, as well as TV and journalism, including Jonathan Bown, who until recently was an assistant editor at Smash Hits.
Demon FM won national recognition at the annual Student Radio Awards in 2001, most notably winning Station of the Year. The station also won the Best Specialist Music Award in consecutive years for Future Innovation (2003) and Street Beat (2004).
The station broadcasts twice a year on FM in the UK and also online via the station's official website, which has just been redesigned and coded by Ben Hodgson, and also features highlights of previous broadcasts.
