The state capital city is Tucupita.

Delta Amacuro State covers a total surface area of 40,200 km² and, in 2006, had an estimated population of 149,130.

Child malnutrition has reached a level of 30 percent of the population undera age five, according to United Nations statistics; this is the fraction of the child population classified as stunted or wasted.
