[edit] Entering Media
There are several ways to enter a media item into Delicious Library. The user can:
- Import their Library from another application (like Bookpedia),
- Enter the title manually,
- Enter the ISBN or UPC by hand,
- Use an iSight to scan the barcode,
- Use a videocamera connected through FireWire to scan a barcode,
- Use a Bluetooth enabled barcode scanner (which can purchased directly through Delicious Library itself) to scan a barcode.
The :CueCat barcode scanner was not made to be used with programs like Delicious Library, although there is a way to make it work. This method transforms the CueCat into a device that simply reads the barcode, types it into the screen in the same format as a keyboard types, and then clicks the enter button.
Here are Delicious Monster's directions to enable your CueCat barcode scanner to be used with Delicious Library (as from Delicious-Monster Help):
- The USB models has an onboard 16 pin SMD component. This IC will have a serial number on it similar to the following sequence: K130A033 HMS91C7316 0027. Simply lift pin 5 on this device (The small dimple in the lower right-hand corner indicates pin 1). Congratulations, your USB CueCat is now functioning as a commercial barcode scanner.
