Delhi is a census-designated place (CDP) in Merced County, California, USA. According to the 2000 census, the CDP population was 8,022.

Pronounced "Del-high" as in Delta-Highline Canal, NOT "del-ee" like Delhi, India. Ironically, many residents of Delhi, California immigrated from India.

Delhi is located at 37°25′54″N, 120°46′51″W (37.431649, -120.780832)GR1. It lies across the Merced River from Livingston. Hilmar is to the west; Turlock to the north; and Ballico to the east.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 12.0 km² (4.7 mi²), all land.

Delhi is an unincorporated area of Merced County. It has its own elementary and high school district, although many students choose to attend Livingston High School in the Merced Union High School District. Delhi is in the Turlock Irrigation District, which provides farm water and electrical service.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 8,022 people, 2,126 households, and 1,832 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 666.1/km² (1,725.2/mi²). There were 2,186 housing units at an average density of 181.5/km² (470.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 53.34% White, 1.70% Black or African American, 1.00% Native American, 2.61% Asian, 0.09% Pacific Islander, 34.49% from other races, and 6.78% from two or more races. 55.45% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There were 2,126 households out of which 56.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 67.1% were married couples living together, 12.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 13.8% were non-families. 10.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 4.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.75 and the average family size was 4.00.

In the CDP the population was spread out with 37.0% under the age of 18, 10.3% from 18 to 24, 31.9% from 25 to 44, 14.9% from 45 to 64, and 5.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 27 years. For every 100 females there were 102.1 males. For every 100 women age 18 and over, there are 98.6 men.

The median income for a household in the CDP was $41,629, and the median income for a family was $42,702. Males had a median income of $31,321 versus $19,777 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $12,960. About 9.8% of families and 15.1% of the population were below the poverty line, including 15.1% of those under age 18 and 17.9% of those age 65 or over.
