Deir al-Asad was a local council in the North District of Israel, 49 kilometers from Haifa. It is located above Alaaraes mountain.
All the residents are Muslims. The number of the residents in 2003 was approximately 8,400.
In 2003, Deir al-Asad merged with Majd al-Krum and Bi'ina to form Shagor.
