Very important note: This template is for use only in EXTREME cases, namely someone deliberately and knowingly posting blatant and unquestionably libelous material. For cases where someone acted in good faith (EG. Didn't know about WP:LIBEL), use the {{defwarn}} template and/or leave a message to them on the subject. This template is only for extreme cases and is always used in conjunction with a ban. |

Blocked - LEGAL WARNING |
You have been blocked from editing for posting defamatory claims on Wikipedia. The Wikimedia Foundation does not tolerate libel on any of its websites. All defamation added to any WMF wiki, including Wikipedia, in any form is deleted. People who deliberately post such material are immediately banned from the site and may be reported to the relevant authorites. Notice that defamation is illegal.
Under Section 230 of the United States Communications Decency Act, which governs the Wikimedia wikis (Wikipedia included), Wikimedia cannot be sued for your defamatory edits. However, YOU can be. Your Internet provider may be able to trace your edits back to you. The person you defamed could get a court order to require that the server release your name, and then sue you personally for defamation in the courts.
Remember: You put yourself at serious risk of a prosecution under the laws of defamation for any defamation you deliberately post.
