Decompression

Decompression has several meanings:
- in physics, decompression is the release of pressure and is the opposition of physical compression
- in medicine and aviation, decompression can refer to decompression sickness
- in surgery, decompression can refer to a procedure used to treat spinal stenosis, carotid artery stenosis or any condition where a structure is being compressed
- in scuba diving, decompression can refer to a decompression stop, a decompression chamber, a decompression buoy, a decompression trapeze, decompression tables or a decompression meter
- in festivals, decompression is a winding down decompression party
- in accidents involving pressured vessels, explosive decompression
- in computer science, decompression is the action of reversing data compression.
- in comic book storytelling, decompression is the stylistic choice to tell a story mainly by visuals, with few words. See decompression (comics).
