Category:Decanonized saints

This is a category for individuals that were formerly regarded as saints, but have since lost that recognition in Roman Catholicism. This category also includes persons regarded popularily as saints, but whose festival day has been removed from the calendar in the Roman Catholic Church. They have not actually been "decanonized" in the sense that they are no longer regarded as saints, but in the sense that they are no longer universally culted in the Roman Catholic Church.

This "decanonization" only refers to their status among those Christians who are in the Roman Catholic tradition. Many of these saints are still venerated by Eastern and Oriental Orthodox Christians.
