Debutante Stakes
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Debutante Stakes is a Group 2 flat horse race in the Republic of Ireland for two-year-old thoroughbred fillies run over a distance of 7 furlongs (1,408 metres) in July / August.
It was a Group 3 race at Phoenix Park Racecourse before 1991, when it moved to the Curragh and was relegated to Listed class. The race moved to Leopardstown Racecourse in 1994, and the distance was increased from 6 furlongs (1,207 metres) to its present 7 furlongs. It returned to the Curragh in 2000, regained Group 3 status in 2001, and was promoted to its present Group 2 status in 2004.
The race returned to Leopardstown in 2006.
