Wow, what a great name for a heavy metal band. :D RickK 05:16, Sep 19, 2004 (UTC)
You are Dave Barry and I claim my five pounds. DS 21:07, 15 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- An image of a death erection? My God.
- Actually this short article could easily be condensed - the thing about the high pressure in the lower part of body causing the "erectile tissue blood" to enter the penis could be said in two lines rather than seven. Palefire 01:30, Dec 23, 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Requested " Death Erection" photos
I read the request on the " Talk:Death erection" page for more images of " Death Erections ". As requested, I have added 2 more photos depicting this phenomenon.
- Do you have versions of these images without text on them - text may be included on the image description page. Also, do you have a source for these images to add to the image description page. --Oldak Quill 15:23, 7 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Do we really need three images to illustrate this article? I suggest selecting and using the least sensationalist image from these three. Also, are these images GFDL-compatible? -- The Anome 15:40, Feb 7, 2005 (UTC)
- Firstly, they are public domain, so are compatable with GFDL. Secondly, I do not believe three is too many, they together demonstrate the concept - otherwise, a fuller gallery could be held at Commons. I do not believe or think any are sensational, and if they were - this would not be the criterion for inclusion in the article. What is important is which is the most descriptive of the idea, of the concept (I would suggest the man hanging). --Oldak Quill 16:34, 7 Feb 2005 (UTC)
- Agreed, also, versions without text would be nice. As well as a move to commons. –Ævar Arnfjörð Bjarmason 19:08, 2005 Feb 7 (UTC)
In my opinion, all three "death erection " photos should stay. Here is my reasoning in this matter. The article describes 2 circumstances in which " death erections " occur - Death of a male in the verticle position as in hanging, and death of a male " face down ". The " Nicaragua Hanging Victim " photo demonstrates the fullest extent of the " death erection " after the body has been taken down from a verticle position and laid horizontally. The " Naked Male Hostage " photo demonstrates the " death erection " as it is occuring in the verticle position. The " Naked Male Drowning Victim " photo demonstrates the " death erection " as the result of the drowning victim floating " face down " in the water. However, in my research of the " death erection " topic, the "Nicaragua Hanging Victim " photo and the text below it is the most accurate depiction. The " death erection " article is only partially correct. The erection of the penis and occasional ejaculation in male hanging victims actually occurs AS THE MALE VICTIM IS DYING due to trauma, spinal cord injury, and the physiological effects of asphyxiation on the male body. Strangling, choking, and the struggling for breath can provoke penile erections in males (Ref: " Autoerotic Asphyxiation "). If you have any question, just post them here. infofreak
Hey guys. The pictures look a bit extreme. Somebody's going to stumble across this article and either vomit or have a heart attack. Everyking 05:15, 9 Feb 2005 (UTC)
- Quite. This makes Mr. Goatse's portrait look like kittens frolicing in a field. -- Cyrius|✎ 05:42, 9 Feb 2005 (UTC)
- While my year-long stint at Totse made me immune to almost everything, I greatly question the need for a picture of this. Most people will be able to figure out what it would look like without the aid of a picture of a dead man. --YixilTesiphon 05:46, 10 Feb 2005 (UTC)
As a compromise, can't we merely add links to these pictures with a warning message? -- Sundar 05:55, Feb 10, 2005 (UTC)
- That's a rather hot topic. See the mess at autofellatio and talk. Since the reason for including a link yet not deleting the pic entirely would be its offensiveness, it's quite POV and will most likely encounter a lot of resistance on principle. Not that I love dead, erect penises. Cheers, TIMBO (T A L K) 07:11, 10 Feb 2005 (UTC)
- There is no reason why we should allow our culutral POV to affect inclusion. There is no reason why an individual can read, but not see, an image - there is no gore. Simply a cadaver with an erection. --Oldak Quill 15:58, 10 Feb 2005 (UTC)

- Well there's certainly plenty of material on Wikipedia that might make a school block us. I guess it depends on the specific software involved, but I wouldn't be surprised if penis and vulva, clitoris, etc. got Wikipedia blocked. Or even more likely, Abu_Ghraib_torture_and_prisoner_abuse, which contains some pretty graphic pictures. These have all been challenged, with the outcome being to keep the images. It's up to the school whether or not to block us; I don't think we should take that into consideration when making content decisions, though. TIMBO (T A L K) 01:53, 11 Feb 2005 (UTC)
