A Deaniac is a term used to describe supporters of former Vermont Governor and Democratic National Committee Chair Howard Dean.

When Gov. Dean's Presidential Nomination bid in 2003-2004 began gathering steam, his campaign manager, Joe Trippi, started using the Meetup.com website to track supporters and encourage grassroots participation in the campaign, which was very popular and very successful. The term Deaniac was coined as a result.

Deaniacs remain engaged in the political process through Democracy for America and similar locally oriented organizations.
