[edit] Background
Dean Winchester was born on January 24, 1979. He is 6'1" tall and 27 years old. He usually wears worn jeans, a button-up shirt with rolled up sleeves (unbuttoned, so the shirt underneath is exposed), and a dark brown, worn leather jacket. He wears a digital watch, and a thick silver washer ring on his right ring finger. During the first season, he wore two elephant hair bracelets on his right wrist; he now he wears a single dark beaded bracelet instead. He also wears a long black cloth band necklace with a brass amulet[1] attached. He loves his car, a black four-door 1967 Chevrolet Impala. He is a fan of classic rock music, including Led Zeppelin, Motörhead, AC/DC, Metallica, Black Sabbath, Rush, Blue Öyster Cult, and Kansas.
Early in his life, his father trained him to hunte demons. He took to the job, thus he has several notable advantages for a human: He's an exceptonal shot, such as when he makes a one-handed headshot in the season finale of season 1. He has knowledge beyond the norm about the supernatural, augmented by having his father's journal. Also, he seems to have some proficiency with melee weapons and is a skilled fighter. It's unclear whether there's some styling to his hand-to-hand techniques or if it's just something he's picked up in his work.
[edit] Season 1
When Dean was four years old, his mother was killed in his little brother's room. Twenty-two years later, The Demon responsible for their mother's death kills Sam's girlfriend, Jessica Moore. Together, they go on a road trip to fend off mystical creatures and search for their father, who occasionally leaves new missions for his sons to complete.
The season finale concluded with Sam, Dean, and their father, John, escaping from a clash with "The Demon" in Salvation, Iowa. While Sam was driving to a hospital after Dean and John got hurt, a demonically possessed driver drove his truck into the Impala, causing massive damage to the car and the Winchesters inside.
[edit] Season 2
All three of the Winchesters survived the wreck . In the first episode of Season 2, "In My Time of Dying", Dean is in a coma and a reaper, Tessa, tries to convince him to die. In order to save him, John makes a deal with "The Demon". Before he dies, John whispers something in Dean's ear which the audience cannot hear. Dean struggles with the death of his father, as well as the knowledge that he should have died instead. He fears for Sam, especially for Sam's as-yet-unknown importance to the Demon.
