A Deadhead may refer to:

  • A commercial carrier with no paying passengers or freight.
  • Similarly, sometimes used as a verb to describe a taxicab driving some distance without a paying passenger. Eg. "to deadhead across town for a fare" or "to deadhead back to the office."
  • In the airline industry, a flight crew member (either flight attendant or pilot) who is in uniform travelling on a scheduled flight, but not working that flight, (on a positive space ticket which sometimes bumps a paying passenger off a flight). Essentially, that crew member is being repositioned to work from a different city.
  • Dead Head (TV series), a 4-part British TV drama made in 1986 and starring Denis Lawson
  • A form of Pruning, called deadheading
