De Jeugd van Tegenwoordig

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

De Jeugd van Tegenwoordig ("The Youth of Today") is a popular Dutch hiphop music and R&B act based in Amsterdam. Originally a rock band, they switched to hip hop. Its members are Vieze Fur a.k.a. Vieze Freddie ("Dirty Freddie") or Baksteen ("Brick"), (actual name Freddie Tratlehner), P. Fabergé a.k.a. P. Dronq or Peppie (actual name Pepijn Lanen) and Willie Wartaal (actual name Ollicio Locadia). All tracks on the group's debut album Parels voor de Zwijnen (literally "pearls for the pigs") were produced by Bas Bron.

In the Netherlands they are known for their hit single Watskeburt ("Whazzup"), which topped the Dutch Top 40 for several weeks in 2005. It even reached number 10 in the 2005 annual hit chart. Its successors weren't as successful: Voorjekijkendoorlopen ("Eyesfrontkeepwalkin") didn't make it into the charts and Ho Ho Ho was listed for only two weeks. The next release was a collaboration with ska/reggae band Luie Hond titled Poes in de Playboy. The most recent release is Voor Jou ("For You"). However, their new song "Stofzuiger" has done well and continues to do so. They are currently working on a new album, which is confirmed on their new 4 part documentary 'De Jeugd Van Tegenwoordig op hun best'.
