De Bijenkorf is a chain of upmarket department stores in the Netherlands with its flagship store on Dam Square, Amsterdam. Founded in 1870 as a small store along the Nieuwendijk, it offers many prestigious brands in womenswear, menswear, accessories, beauty, food, and home. Its name means "the Beehive". De Bijenkorf has 12 stores and two outlet stores nationwide. It is owned by Maxeda, which also owns department stores Vroom & Dreesmann and HEMA, both of which compete below the average price level of de Bijenkorf.
