[edit] Sondheim, Rodgers & Hammerstein nav boxes

Nice start on creating these. They're definitely needed. I've recategorized them in Category:Music navigational boxes. I also moved a bunch of other templates from Category:Music templates. I hope we'll soon have enough to create the subcategory Category:Musical theatre navigational boxes. :-) --Usgnus 03:47, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] G&S Template

We have been using H.M.S. Pinafore, but the template says HMS Pinafore (no dots). Not sure that it matters, though. Just curous: What's the purpose of the template? Is it to make it easier to navigate around among the G&S operas by having them linked right there on each page? Or is there more to it? Ssilvers 06:00, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

Hi, I originally put H.M.S. but the page it linked to spelt it HMS. On the template, the page you are on is shown in bold and it wasn't showing until I removed the dots. If you prefer, please put them back. The only purpose of the template is to make it easier to navigate - I've also put them up for Rodgers and Hammerstein and Stephen Sondheim musicals, and I'm currently working on one for Andrew Lloyd Webber. :) Daydream believer2 06:02, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

Cool. Seems like a good idea, thanks! What made you think of G&S? By the way the "musical theatre" project is trying to make progress in that area. If you know anything about obscure musicals, they could sure use your help. Also, BTW, what aobut Lerner and Lowe? Any other prolific teams? Best regards, -- Ssilvers 06:08, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

Well, I'd definitely love to help out in any way I can with the project. Hopefully in the next few days, I'll get around to some other teams - if I can think of any! The problem with some of the earlier teams is that some of them wrote many obscure or forgotten musicals, which makes a pretty scant template! But I'm looking into them now. If you have any suggestions, thoughts, or just general comments about musicals, please get in touch! :) Daydream believer2 06:12, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Lerner and Loewe

Okay, I've added the Lloyd Webber template, and also Template:Lerner and Loewe, which I'm mildly unsatisfied because a few of the pages link to film/book versions of the musicals in lieu of a real page, and I'm also not sure what musicals I'm missing from the bunch (obscures ones only, if any). Any new ideas, please inform :) Daydream believer2 06:42, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

You did the best you could. Some of those entries are not very complete yet. But I am hoping that the new-ish musical theatre project will get to them soon. The only ones you left off are ""Great Lady" (their first collaboration) and Teddy & Alice (1987) (Lerner was only "Artistic Consultant"), but they don't have pages (and might never have them), so who cares. Thanks! Ssilvers 14:55, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

Thanks, it's good to hear I succeeded! :) Daydream believer2 06:34, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] WikiProject Musical Theatre

Hi! I'm leaving you this message because I feel you may be interested in our project. The project had lain dormant for quite awhile, but several interested editors have gotten it up and running. I thank you for all of your template work; that was one of the things I wanted to get started on once we got some organizational matters out of the way. Feel free to join us at WikiProject Musical Theatre, and offer your "two cents" on several of the matters that have been raised here. I look forward to working with you in the future. —  MusicMaker 07:09, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

Hello again. What about a Rodgers and Hart template. They also did over a dozen shows, although some of them don't have pages yet. Ssilvers 23:00, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll look into it :) Daydream believer2 06:35, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] More suggestions for nav templates

Cole Porter, George Gershwin (with or without Ira), Irving Berlin, Jerome Kern, Kander and Ebb, Leonard Bernstein, and possibly Cy Coleman, Frank Loesser. --Usgnus 15:25, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll get into these, and mark any progress I make, either here or on the Wiki MusicalTheatre Project page! Daydream believer2 06:36, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

We've put your great G&S template on all the G&S related articles. In addition to the musicals project, please join us at the G&S project as a participant at WP:G&S. Happy editing! --Ssilvers 06:06, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
