[edit] History

Dayboro was originally named Hamilton and, in 1892, was renamed Terrors Creek. On the May 24, 1917 the town was officially named Dayboro, after a local sugar pioneer (and later Police Magistrate) called William Henry Day.

Day's sugar growing experiement failed, and his property was split, allowing timber, vegetable and dairy farmers to further develop the region. The Hotel, built in the 1890's, and the local store formed the hub of the fledging township. Later a sawmill (1901) and Butter Factory (1903) were constructed. The original Hotel burnt down in 1913, and the new Crown Hotel was built where it stands to the day.

The railway from Enoggera to Dayboro was opened in the 1920's, and was subsequently closed in 1955.
