Dawson Turner

Dawson Turner (18 October 1775-21 June 1858) was an English banker, botanist and antiquary.
Turner was the son of James Turner and Elizabeth Cotman, the only daughter of the mayor of Yarmouth John Cotman. He was taught by the botanist Robert Forby.
In 1796 he married Mary Palgrave and they had 11 children:
- Maria Dawson Turner (1797–1872) married William Jackson Hooker
- Harriet Turner (1806–1869) married John Gunn the clergyman-naturalist
- Elizabeth (1799–1852) married Francis Palgrave (né Cohen), who took the Palgrave upon conversion to Christanity.
- Eleanor Jane Turner (1811–1895), the youngest daughter, married William Jacobson.
- Dawson William Turner (1815-1885), their only son, was an educationalist.
- six further children.
