Dawson Leery

Dawson Leery is the fictional lead character on television series Dawson's Creek, played by James Van Der Beek.
Parents are Mitch and Gail Leery and sister is Lilly. His best friends are Joey Potter who he had known since he was a child and Pacey Witter. An eternal optimist (at least originally) Dawson believes in the good old fashioned values of romance and honesty.
He originally lived in Capeside and attended local high school Capeside High. After graduating he attended USC studying film but soon dropped out and moved to Boston to be with his friends.
Dawson is an aspring movie director and his hero is Steven Spielberg. He grew up believing that the answers to all of lifes questions could be found within a Spielberg film given enough viewings.
He later became the director and chief writer of the television program The Creek, a self-referential coming of age teen drama.
