Dawn Angelique Richard (born August 5, 1983) is an American singer and member of the Making The Band 3 group, Danity Kane. She was born in New Orleans, Louisiana and she is of Haitian, Creole and African-American descent. Due to Hurricane Katrina, Dawn and her family now reside in Baltimore, Maryland. Dawn has also released a solo album called Been A While which had no releases and didn't chart. Dawn draws anime, and one drawing in particular caught the attention of Diddy. When asked what the character's name was she replied "Danity Kane". It was a female superhero while Danity Kane was in the studio, and to Diddy this represented the girls of Making The Band 3 well. Diddy decided this would be the name of the group. The story was told during Danity Kane's TRL appearance on June 14th, 2006.
