Hello, and welcome to my user page!

I finally decided to create one. It's rather humble, but perhaps it will grow into something more.

Me

My name is David Levy, and I'm a college student from New Jersey, USA.

I joined Wikipedia in February 2005, and began editing regularly the following April. In December 2005, I became an administrator.

My personal wiki philosophy is that of a mergist, a moderate viewpoint that incorporates elements of inclusionism and deletionism.

I hope to eventually attain a career in the industry of television, a medium that has captivated me since before I was old enough to understand what a TV set was. I'm particularly fond of sitcoms, and would love nothing more than to edit one.

I registered my Wikipedia account under the username Lifeisunfair, which I used for ten months. Occasionally inquired about (and mocked once or twice), this was a reference to Boss of Me, the Grammy-winning Malcolm in the Middle theme song by They Might Be Giants. Due to my inability to convince people that it wasn't representative of a plaintive lad's tragically pessimistic outlook, I decided to switch to my real name. Now I can look forward to comments regarding the famous astronomer, and possibly other notable David Levys.

I'm not related to any of them, but I am a distant relative of a filmmaker by the name of Julian Zimet, who was unfairly blacklisted during the Red Scare. Zimet wrote the stories or screenplays for movies featuring such actors as John Wayne, Faye Dunaway, Peter Fonda, Roy Rogers, Dale Evans, Gene Autry, Telly Savalas and Jeffrey Hunter.

I also am distantly related to the Polaners, who founded a well-known brand of fruit spreads. (Don't DARE call it jelly!)

My contributions

I don't rank among the most prolific authors of wikiprose, probably because I already spend so much of my time composing papers for my college classes. I do, however, invest a significant amount of effort in such tasks as deletion discussion and template design. I (and many other people) obtain information from Wikipedia on a daily basis, so I'm eager to see it presented in the best possible manner. I'm proudest of my "purple box"/"red & blue arrows" design, which is used for merger templates in the English Wikipedia (and to varying extents in other languages' Wikipedias and non-Wikimedia wikis). When I create icons for the project, I always release them into the public domain (excepting derivative works with pre-existing licenses attached).
