[edit] Background
Nick and Dave does Christ...mas Carols was created for pure and simple fun. During the Christmas of 2005, Nick and Dave decided to create a Christmas album as a gift to their fellow high school graduates and teachers. Not only was the album a gesture of gift-giving, it was whatever you wanted it to be.
Neither two could carry a sensible tune, and wasn't their goal to create a great sounding album. Nick and Dave's goal was to get a reaction. Any reaction. Whether people loved it, hated it, thought it was funny, thought it was idiotic, or was genuinely touched to get a gift, it didn't matter. As long as they reacted to it.
[edit] Production
Recording the album proved to be an arduous task for the two amateurs. There were problems from the get-go. One major problem was finding a program to record over the 1 minute mark.
Originally, the plan was to include 10 tracks onto the album, however, in the end only 8 were recorded. Recording took a heavy toll. The two weren't good singers, and kept fumbling over the lyrics, and their bursts of hysterical laughter further only complicated matters.
In the end, there were over 100 different takes and the total recording time took well over 6 hours.
*Note: Each album was individually wrapped, sealed and personally delivered by Nick and Dave.
