[edit] POV ?

It should be noted however that both of these men are relatively unknown, minor figures whose statements seem to contradict the positions of both the English media and police regarding Dave's importance.

I have removed the above which followed on from the part of the article where Bernard O Mahoney and Frankie Fraser's views on Courtney are stated. The article might now not conform to NPOV but the above just does not stand up. Leaving aside O'Mahoney for a moment- Fraser was a major criminal. (The leading gangland figures in the 1960s were the Krays and Richardsons and Frankie Fraser was an 'enforcer' for the Richardsons) He started to write books and do media work 5 or 10 years before Courtney- and would have become quite well known to the public. Therefore his credentials for commenting on Courtney's standing and his profile would be quite good.

[edit] No record of him being in prison, plus not a real villain

Charlie Bronson has confirmed that he met Courtney while in prison.

Also the only know villain who didn't stick by Courtney is Frankie Fraser. The majority took Courtney’s side. Plus Frankie Fraser is now very unpopular among criminals for exaggerating the truth.

Also he has always stated that he is not an associate of the Krays the police just labelled him that. He only met the Krays when they were banged up and they did form a good friendship. And there is every proof that he organised Ronnie Krays funeral.

Nobody has denied Dave has served time. What is the main dispute, according O'Mahoney & Fraser, is that he has embellished his criminal history. He claims, at one time, that he was prosecuted for attempted murder but his detractors say it was only minor assault. He did run the security for Ron Kray's funneral but there were rumours that his men took liberties whilst guarding the body at the undertakers. Whatever he was not even invited to the other Kray funerals.

There are photos of him at Reggie's and Charlie's funerals. So, I think that is proof.

It was proof that he was in the vicinity that's all. Another guy, forgotten his name, arranged the security. Roberta, Reggie's widow, refused to invite alot of his former criminal associates to the funeral. The likes of Freddie Foreman were put out and were annoyed about not been asked to be pallbearers. Some of them turned up anyway and hung around the chingford cemetary giving interviews and things but they had to arrange their own wake at a different pub.

[edit] No sign

There is no sign of the bitting off of the nose, even in detailed photos. D.C. has never been prosecuted for murder in any part of the world.

[edit] Claims

Courtney claims to have left a notice outside his cell when leaving for Court, saying "No DSS, no dogs". Anyone doing this would be severely punished. Anyway, there is no time for this when going to Court in the morning, with a guard watching. He claims to have used an obscene defence in the trial, but would have been prosecuted for contempt of Court if he had.

[edit] Rancid

Any mention of the Rancid song, "David Courtney", from the Indestructable album?
