Davy Carton a native of Tuam Co. Galway is a singer, songwriter and rhythm guitarist best known for his current band The Saw Doctors who have been around since the 80's and prior to that Tuam punk band Blaze X.

Davy was a co-founder of the Docs and in a songwriting combo spanning 20 odd years with Leo Moran (Lead Guitar) has written all of the Saw Doctors best loved songs. Davy is a very versatile singer and can sing heavy lead vocals on rock songs such as "Thats What She Said Last Night", or softer vocals on ballads like "Share The Darkness" and harmonies occasionally, "Still The Only One" by Padraig Stevens being a fine example.

Davy uses mainly the Major Chords A through G, a couple of Sharps and Flats included and usually Minor Chords Am Bm Dm Em combined with a very rhythmic right hand technique. Davy's great right hand rhythm gives the Saw Doctors songs that lively, bouncy beat. A lot of Davy's guitar work sees him using the capo extensively and working with the open chords for example "To Win Just Once" a song in the key of A# played with open chords and a capo on the 3rd fret, however his punk roots show up on songs like "What a Day" where he can be seen playing barre chords.

Davy uses numerous acoustic guitars including a Takamine Cutaway Acoustic on the "Different Kind of World" documentary. On stage however he usually uses electric guitars such as the Gretsch White Falcon, the Gibson ES-355 and the Gibson S-G, he tends not to use much effects but on live performances of "Same Auld Town" uses a distortion.
