Davis High School (Houston)

Jefferson Davis High School is a secondary school located at 1101 Quitman in Houston, Texas with a ZIP code of 77009.
The school, which serves grades 9 through 12, is a part of the Houston Independent School District.
The school has a Hotel and Restaurant Management magnet program.
The school was named after Jefferson Davis, the only president of the Confederate States of America.
Davis High School is located inside the 610 Loop in the Northside Village neighborhood. Davis High School, located next door to Marshall Middle School, is north of Downtown Houston.

Davis High School serves Northside Village, Lindale Park and most of Downtown Houston.
Irvington Place, a public housing unit, is served by Davis.
Fulton Village, a mixed-income unit, is served by Davis.

All Davis students are required to wear school uniforms. The uniform consists of a collared shirt colored purple, gray, black, or white, and a pair of pants, shorts, or a skirt that is khaki, navy, black, or denim. [1]
The Texas Education Agency specified that the parents and/or guardians of students zoned to Lamar may apply for a waiver to opt out of the uniform policy so their children do not have to wear the uniform [2]; parents must specify "bona fide" reasons, such as religious reasons or philosophical objections.

87% of the students were Hispanic. 11% of the students were African-American. 2% of the students were non-Hispanic White. Less than one percent of the students was Asian. There were no Native American students enrolled at Davis.
88% of the students qualify for free or reduced lunch.

Will Jones, Ketelsen, Looscan, C. Martinez, McDade, Ross, Scott, Sherman, and Travis. (E.O. Smith is a K-8 but only its middle school boundary is partly zoned to Davis).
