David Yen

Dr. David Yen and his brother Wei Yen published the paper "Data Coherence Problem in a Multicache System" along with King-sun Fu which describes a practical cache coherence protocol.
The two brothers were two of the founders of Cydrome, Inc (initially known as Axiom Computers) that designed the Cydra 5 mini-supercomputer. The cache coherence protocol was physically realized in the multi-computer portion of the Cydra 5.
Dave moved from Cydrome to Sun where he is an Executive Vice President.
David has a family in California, with two daughters who currently attend MIT (classes of 2006 and 2009).
David likes to play saxophone in his free time and enjoys violent movies.
