David Williamson (magician)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
David Williamson, best known for his appearances with his "real" pet raccoon, Rocky, is a comedy actor and magician. His first appearance was on the CBS TV special Magician's Favorite Magicians in 1995. Rocky, as described by David himself, is a "slinky in a fur coat" or a "little bedspring in a blanket". Although Rocky looks to be alive and moving, it's actually David manipulating the puppet. There are many ways David manipulates the puppet.
For Example:
- "You pull back with your thumb and he looks up"
- "Pull back with your [index] finger and he eats!"
- "Four fingers make him boogie-boogie-boogie!" and "Always use four fingers, never use one"
The first trick he did with Rocky was finding a chosen card in a lady's purse, which he did on Magicians Favorite Magicians. He did the same trick in 1996 with Rocky on the NBC special "The World's Greatest Magic III", albeit with sort of a different flair. During the trick, Williamson explained that there is a way to make your own "Rocky". All you need is some roadkill, and a bedspring, and you put it in through... wait, let's not get technical here..... Later in the program Williamson did a sort of a "fruit and teacup"(Ball and cup) routine.
Although he has rarely been seen in public, he has released two VHS Cassettes and one DVD with his magic acts.
