From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

David Wilcox (born 1949 in Montreal, Quebec) is a Canadian rock musician.

He is known for such albums as Out Of The Woods (1977, 1983), My Eyes Keep Me In Trouble (1983), Bad Reputation (1984), Breakfast At The Circus (1987), The Natural Edge (1989), Thirteen Songs (1996), and Rhythm Of Love (2002) (most of which were produced by the British artist and record producer Sadia Sadia, who also co-wrote many of the titles on these albums for Capitol-EMI Canada).

Many of David's energetic songs have a heavy blues influence, and include such tunes as Hot, Hot Papa, Do the Bearcat, Layin' Pipe, Riverboat Fantasy, Downtown Came Uptown, That Hypnotizin' Boogie and Bad Apple. Near the close of the 2002 Winter Olympics the Canadian figure skating couples pair of Jamie Salé and David Pelletier did a flying demonstration to the Wilcox tune Rockin' The Boogie. Wilcox continues to be a top attraction on the Festival and Arena circuits around Canada.

David Wilcox is one of the most influential blues guitarists to ever come out of Canada. Most of his fan base at his concerts are younger people in their 20's as he has been opened up to a new generation of fans and musicians through constant touring. He is well known for his eccentric stage performances, where he moves around in similar ways to that of Joe Cocker while also playing lead and rhythm guitar, and singing. David Wilcox sometimes performs concerts with fellow Canadian rock legends, Kim Mitchell as well as April Wine. In a recent concert in Oshawa, Ontario on October 19, 2006 he played the rarely performed Layin' Pipe, much to the delight of his rabid fans.
