David Sklansky (born in Teaneck, New Jersey) is a professional poker player and author.

Sklansky is generally considered one of the top authorities on gambling, especially poker. He is the author or co-author of many books on poker, blackjack, and gambling in general. His book, the Theory of Poker, is considered by some to be the quintessential poker primer.

Along with Mason Malmuth and Ray Zee, Sklansky is a principal of Two Plus Two Publishing, a publisher and distributor of gambling-themed strategy books and operator of one of the web's most popular poker strategy discussion forums.

Sklansky has won three World Series of Poker bracelets, two in 1982 ($800 Mixed Doubles, and $1000 Draw Hi) and in 1983 ($1000 Limit Omaha Hi). He also won the Poker By The Book invitational event on the 2004 World Poker Tour, outlasting Phil Hellmuth Jr, Mike Caro, T. J. Cloutier, and Mike Sexton, and then finally overcoming Doyle Brunson.[1]

Sklansky attended the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania for a year before leaving to become a professional gambler.[2] He resides in Henderson, Nevada.

As of 2006, his total live tournament winnings exceed $800,000.
