David Randall Silveria (born September 21, 1972 in San Leandro, California) is the drummer for the band Korn.

Growing up in the Bakersfield area, he started playing drums when he was nine. At the age of 13, he found out that local band LAPD (which consisted of Head, Munky and Fieldy) was searching for a drummer. He auditioned - and was chosen - but needed permission from his mother to go with the band. In fact, she would often drop him off and pick him up from practices. When Jonathan Davis joined the band, they changed the name to Korn. David is one of the most credited Nu-Metal drummers of all time

David is considered the "heartthrob" of Korn. He has landed a few modeling stints, the most memorable one being for Calvin Klein jeans.

David is called the "timid member" of Korn. He says his favourite song from the band is B.B.K. from Follow the Leader.

David divorced his wife Shannon in 2002, going so far as covering up a tattoo of her name with a huge tribal. He has two children, David Jr. and Sofie Aurora.

David had to undergo surgery to remove an extra rib which was causing nerve problems in his left arm. His wrist gave out in Fargo, ND during the song It's Gonna Go Away. He was out for the rest of the Sick and Twisted 2000 and Summer Sanitarium Tours. Mike Bordin filled in for David. David has since returned for Untouchables and beyond (David's explanation: "I hit too fucking hard!").

David went backstage after the incident in North Dakota and got bandaged up and the guys came back out and David took the mic and told the fans "I'm afraid we've got some bad news, I fucked up my wrist trying to play". Head remembered on "Deuce" that the crowd started booing in disbelief, but David turned it around saying "We could have had someone else come up and tell you guys but we came up ourselves" and the boos turned to cheers and clapping.

David struck a nerve with the band Slipknot in 2000, when David posed for Calvin Klein Dirty Denim jeans. Slipknot didn't like the fact that he modeled, they thought it wasn't a "metal" thing to do, so they protested by burning ads from all different kinds of models for the same company (Jay Gordon of Orgy being one of them) onstage at a couple of their shows. (Korn and Slipknot have since "made-up", because they toured together in 2004 at a UK Festival, and members of Slipknot have said they like Korn's music, and appreciate what they have done for music). He has come under criticism from his bandmates for appearing in the advertisements. This scene was also parodied in the "Twisted Transistor" music video.

[edit] History of KoЯn

David Silveria, guitarist Munky (a.k.a. James Shaffer), and bassist Fieldy (Reginald Arvizu) were involved with vocalist Rick Morales in the band L.A.P.D. (Love And Peace Dude). It was later changed to stand for Laughing As People Die in order to be taken more seriously as a band. During the mid-80s, Fieldy and Head (Brian Welch) were also members of rock group Rig Tyme. 'Head' took his nickname from the 'large' size of his head, not from any sexual or drug related quality, 'Munky' a reference to his primate-like feet while 'Fieldy' was an abbreviation of 'Garfield', in honor of the bassists prominent cheeks. Reginald, Arvizu had also subbed for a Keith Galloway-fronted band named Pretty Boy Floyd, although not the familiar glam outfit of the same name. L.A.P.D. undertook gigs around southern California and contracted a label deal with independent label Triple-X Records, resulting in an EP called "Love and Peace Dude" released in 1989, and then 12" single and an album entitled 'Who's Laughing Now?', released in 1991. When L.A.P.D. folded, due to time honoured musical differences, Morales forged Supermodel with erstwhile Sexart personnel.

During 1993 Jonathan Davis got together with Human Waste Project for their first demo tape dueting with vocalist Aimee Echo on a strictly non-saccharine cover version of 'This Town' by The Go-Go's. This recording was to be unearthed on a subsequent Korn bootleg. (Such was the fascination between fans of both bands that during late 1997 the acts convened once more in the recording studio to lay down a further take on the song interbred for use as a Korn single B side). Munky, Head, Fieldy, and Silveria in the meantime, had assembled Creep. Whilst on the lookout for a singer, Silveria was headhunted for Mike Muir's Infectious Grooves, but opted to remain with his colleagues. Whilst on the hunt for a singer the quartet spotted Davis performing with Sexart at John Bryan's Bar. Apparently the guitar duo of Shaffer and Welch, were bar-hopping, had a few drinks, and were on their way out the door, when they heard the voice of their future singer in Jonathan Davis. Davis almost didn't go to the audition offered him by the band, but upon visiting a fortune tellar who told him he'd be stupid to pass on this, he decided to go. Auditions in Huntington Beach secured the band's new frontman, before the quintet even finished singing the first song (which was performede through a cheap vocal mic).

In 1993, the band released their demo titled "Neidermeyer's Mind," which featured the songs "Predictable," "Blind," "Daddy," and "Alive."

The song "Alive" was the band's first ever song, which was an early version of the song which later became "Need To" on the band's self-titled major label debut album, and was also reworked for the band's 2003 album "Take a Look in the Mirror".

In 1994, KoRn released their self-titled, and most raw album to date, "KoRn." The album was produced by famed record producer Ross Robinson and released by Epic/Immortal records. The album featured the singles "Blind," "Clown," and "Shoots and Ladders." In the same year, the band also played the Lolopalooza Tour with Jane's Addiction, as well as many others.
