David R. Ross is a Scottish author and historian. Mr Ross released his first book in 1999 called On the Trail of William Wallace through Luath Press Ltd.
As a young child, Ross visited historical sites and read an immense number of books. As a young man, he used his first motorcycle to travel to the places he had read of and it was only a matter of time before he became fascinated with tracing the steps of Scottish historical figures.
Ross walked 450 miles to London from Robroyston, Scotland in honour of Sir William Wallace on the 700th anniversary of his capture and execution in London. A church service was held and a symbolic coffin representing the Spirit of Wallace filled with notes and momentos from Scottish patriots was taken from London to Scotland.
There is now a campaign for the safe conduct letter from the King Philip IV of France to be returned to Scotland. This artifact was in Wallace's possession when he was captured and has been held in London ever since.
Mr Ross is a strong supporter of Scottish independence.
