David "The Dragon" Pham (born February 10, 1967?) in South Vietnam), is a Vietnamese-American professional poker player.

[edit] Biography

Pham fled Vietnam for America at the age of 17 in a boat carrying 145 people (9 of whom died on the journey). He now donates some of his winnings to the poor in Vietnam.

Pham is the cousin of poker player Men Nguyen. After Nguyen's early success in professional poker, he opened up a cleaning business that Pham worked for. Like many of Nguyen's workers, Pham would eventually take poker lessons from him and would later be active in the tournament circuit.

In 2000 he was named "Player of the Year" by Card Player.

Pham won a World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet in 2001 for the $2,000 S.H.O.E. event, defeating a final table including Tom McEvoy, John Cernuto, Cyndy Violette and Paul Darden. 2001 was also the only year he finished in the money for the $10,000 no limit hold'em main event, where he finished in 44th place. In 2006, Pham won his second WSOP bracelet in the $2,000 No Limit Hold'em Shootout event.

In February 2003, Pham won the $1,500 limit hold'em event of the L.A. Poker Classic, outlasting such players as Bon Phan, Jennifer Harman and Erick Lindgren to take home the $457,320 first prize.

Later, in December 2004, he defeated Alan Goehring heads-up to win the $3,000 no limit hold'em event at the Five Diamond World Poker Classic, earning a payday of $414,419.

Since the inception of the World Poker Tour (WPT), Pham has made 3 final tables, but is yet to win an event.

As of 2006, his total live tournament winnings exceed $4,700,000.

Pham currently resides in Bell Gardens, California. He has four children.
